Tonko Heralds Passage of His Bipartisan Alzheimer’s Bills out of Committee

Congressman leads several bills that deliver hope to individuals & their families living with Alzheimer’s

  • Rep. Paul Tonko

WASHINGTON, DC—Congressman Paul D. Tonko (NY-20) today joined the House Energy and Commerce Committee for a full committee markup to advance three Alzheimer’s bills Tonko helped to champion. The bills are:

“I know so many in our community and around the nation who are suffering from this disease and whose families carry a heavy burden,” Congressman Tonko said. “It’s been my privilege to be a part of the fight to end Alzheimer’s and to work alongside countless tireless, compassionate advocates helping to lift that burden for families. These bipartisan bills will provide immense support to those living with this devastating disease and delivers needed hope to millions. I’m grateful to my colleagues for joining me in advancing this critical legislation, and urge the House to take them up at once.

Tonko spoke before the Health Subcommittee earlier this year to call for the advance of these bills and question experts and Alzheimer’s advocates about the importance of this legislation.

Since the beginning of his time in Congress, Tonko has championed the push to address Alzheimer’s and related dementia’s. Most recently this week, he joined his colleagues to introduce the bipartisan Accelerating Access to Dementia and Alzheimer’s Provider Training (AADAPT) Act that would provide Alzheimer’s training and education for primary care providers to help them deliver quality care to their patients.
